NISMO makes aftermarket spec cams for the SOHC, in fact they make more SOHC parts then DOHC. I recently bought the hi-performance cam, they also have a race cam but I wouldn't reccomend on a daily driver. Should help on a turbo w/ lower compression pistons.

how much was it ? did you have to change your lifters also ? which cam "should help on turbo motor " the hi perf or race ?

Since you're posting in the KAT board, I assume this will be for a motor that has a turbo or wil have a turbo. If so, consider that a cam that is used to maximize a NA motor's performance may not work well on a turbo motor. Particularly if you have too much overlap. Make sure you consider this when buying a cam. Don from PDM racing will probably be able to give you more specific info based on the selection of Colt cams he offers.

It cost me $300 through a local Nissan dealership. You have to replace all the rocker arms with new OE arms, and I wouldn't hesitate to change the lifters either. I got the high performance, it's going to give you a good boost in hp and torque, but it shouldn't adversely affect a turbo setup, so long as you counter with low compression pistons and such. There's ways to work with both.

Yeah im at approx 8.5 does the High perf have any overlap ? im going to be running 30psi on full race tune, and lower on street tune. Im just wanting a little better than stock since i have to buy a cam i figure i would bump it up a notch or two.

I'm not aware of any overlap... but truthfully, it's not in the car yet I'm waiting for the other components first. The rocker arms alone cost as much as the cam does, unfortunately. :( Luckily, the guys at Real Nissan are hooking me up with another turbo manifold and low compression pistons... maybe bored to a 2.5L, anyone know how much you can bore the KA out to? I was told 2.5 is the most, I thought 2.6L was possible.

Why would you have to replace the rocker arms? SOHC use hydraulic lifters and as long as they are in good working order, there should be no problems.

As far as boring the KA, the KA has fairly thin cylinder walls. There's not a lot of room to safely bore. Discussions some of us from the original 240sx mailing list have had recommended the block be tested sonically for wall thickness before boring at all. Sand cast motors tend to have quite a few variations in bore location in relation to the water jackets. Some KA's may have too thin a wall in some areas to bore out. I haven't heard anyone's specific problems with this, but it has been discussed. Given this kind of discussion has been brought up, I'd probably stay away from boring the over the recommended max of 0.050" over. You're probably better off maintaining the integrity of the motor and just working on the boost aspect anyways.
