As my title states, I am building a KA24E for my 90 S13. This is my first time mucking about with the internals of any engine. I bought an engine, tore it down, and am in the process of Rebuilding it to swap in to my S13 to get it running again after blowing my HG. This is just for fun/hobby as opposed to power/racing/etc. So, fair to assume all is stock.
Enough background.

I'm almost finished with the engine, but one thing I've noticed causes me great concern. When I attempted to crank the engine by hand (socket on crank bolt), the passenger side of the timing chain seems to tighten, pushing the tensioner in and giving its self slack. It then jumps a tooth on the camshaft gear, knocking its self out of time. This scares me, because all I think of is attempting to crank it in the car, having timing jump, and then all my hard work is thrown down the drain because valves and pistons collide.

If anybody has any input on this I would greatly appreciate it! This is my first build and I don't want to ruin it because I'm missing something stupid!

Had the same issue and my tensioners were worn out.
