OK so here's the full problem, I just bought a 89 hatched 240sx with a SOHC and the guy i bought it from says the anti-freeze is leaking into the oil pan and washing out the oil causeing the piston to knock something aweful. the piston does knock, i've started the car and heard for myself. But i was wondering if it could be something besides a cracked head or blown head gaskit??? also wondering if it would take less time to just swap out the KA24DE DOHC i have for the Ka24E SOHC rather then figureing out the anti-freeze problem??

Have you confirmed that oil is getting into the pan?

Yeah, I drained the oil into a comepletely dry clear oil pan, let it sit and the water that was in the oil pan seperated after a min or two. I did a little research and found out it could possiblely be a Damaged Timeing Chain cover. If that's the case i'm just going to pull the engine and drop the KA24DE DOHC that i have in it. anyone have some info on that swap??
