i have a 95 ka24de engine and a 89 ka24e transmission will they work together?? I plain one using a 93 wiring harness for the engine and transmission. will the engine and transmission work?

Well the 89 transmission is missing the 4th gear sensor that the 91 and up has (but that isn't important). the 95 and up transmission has another sensor though on the bell housing, that i think you will need to drill a hole for. Also, the 93 engine harness won't have the wires for that sensor, so you will have to add it. But then again using the 93 harness you might not have to worry about that sensor at all.

FROM what ive heard from people is that i can use a s13 ka24de trans and engine wire harness with no problems. but im not for sure thoe. i have more research to do.

I dont know about the trans differences between 89 to 94, but 95+ does have crankshaft position sensor that reads off of flywheel. But your not using 95+ harness and ecm so you shoul not worry about that.

As for the motor. Its a 95 ka24de and you want to use 93 wiring harness. Ok I have not done that personaly but from what i remember.

1 You have a 89 SOHC your tahc will not work with DOHC, got to junkyard and just buy tach from DOHC or just buy the entire gauge cluster.

2. Its a 95 so that means it does not have an external coil, that 95 disstributor is useless to you. You will need the 91-94DOHC disstributor, (coil, power transistor, and that lill square thing close by the coil forgot the name of it) these three things should be the same in the s13 sohc and dohc.

3. Dont know if MAF for sohc and dohc are the same, might be.

4. you did not mention anything about the ECM/ECU, but that would be something on top of the "to get list" if you dont have it yet. Auto or manual trans ECM should work dont see any problems, but manual trans ECM would be your best find.

5. I dont know if you know this but sohc and dohc have the power steering pump on opposite sides so you would need dohc power steering lines if your planing on running that

And yes trany and motor should work and the starter from sohc works on dohc, because I have a 95 KA24DE and I used my sohc starter to crank the motor on the stand.

i have the ecu from my 95 dohc engine. but i dont know if that will work. i think i need a s13 dohc ecu cause im going to use the s13 wiring harness. so u said the the stuff from the sohc will work on the dohc?? coil, disstributor, (coil, power transistor, and that lill square thing close by the coil forgot the name of it) ETC. ps thanks alot for your help bro.

yeah no problem. your welcome,

If your going to use 93 harness get the harness from any 91-94 240sx as long as its a DOHC and s13 body style (like the one you have) not the S14(95-98) because those have same motor but different ecm and interior harness. You will need the distributor from DOHC 91-94, 95+ are diffrenet because it does not have external coil.

Just to get the thing running fast and simple1. 91-94 engine wiring harness +ECM (if you have auto got with auto, if you have manual try to get it from manual harness and ECM)2. Distributor from 91-94 DOHC (plug wires might be different from 95+) so try to get wires too if in good shape.3. MAF ????? dont know if Sohc and Dohc 89-94 are different or not, you need to check that. (might be a good idea to get it with the harness, just in case)4. When your working on getting the harness get the tachometer gauge only because thats all you need to get the gauge to work correctly.5. Finally Sohc and Dohc power steering lines are on opposite side, so you need the lines on crossmember, reservoir,pump if you did not get it with your motor, and pressure lines that hook-up to rack.

Thats all for now, there is probably more but the only way to figure-out what else you need is to actually start working on it and when you run into a problem thats when you will know what you need.
