I have a 1990 240sx, at 130,000 I took the ka24e out and put a ka24de in.After driving it for about 8,000 miles I'm ready to change engines again so I'm selling the ka24de. The ka24e ran good when I took it out and its all stock. The ka24de has flat top pistons which make the compression about 11:1, I have a 3 piece Cometic head gasket which cost $180.00 on it so it should hold up nicely. OBX headers, port and polished intake manifold and head. ACT 4 puck clutch and the bottom end has all new bearings and gaskets seals exc. I also put new valve stem seals on it as well. Like I said since the rebuild I've only driven it about 8,000 miles. This is a high compression engine so dont even think about running 87 octane, 91 or better. The only thing that is wrong with it is that the throwout bearing/clutch release bearing has been noisey since I put the act clutch in. It grabs great but makes a lotta noise when not engaged, ACT said they all make noise because of the heavy duty pressure plate. So if you just want the engine without the trans, then I would put a new bearing on it, if you want the transmission as well then I would'nt worry about it. This engine feels much much more powerful then the old ka24e but I want the nice sound of a blow off valve and I cant do that with high compression. So anybody who wants to swap a ka24e with a ka24de this is a great engine to drop in without worrying about high milage.I'll post some pictures later and email me if you have any questions or if you want to make a offer on either engine. You can actually boost with high compression, just not that much. The s15 SR20DET has a 10.0:1 CR and runs I think 8psi stock.

How much do you want for the engine, out of curiosity. Also, will you take some cash and a stock KA24DE in trade for it?

Not much compared to how much I put into it, But since I'm looking for a sr20 and wont be needing the ka anymore I'd be happy with $600, the clutch and head gasket alone cost about $550, not counting the pistons, timing gears, chains, tensioners, exc.

? $550 for the head gasket and clutch? When I priced headgaskets they were $100 dam that was an expensive clutch then!

Actually the head gasket was $164.23, I still have the invoice, and I dont remember exactly how much the clutch was but it was over $350 after shipping. I was just saying that the engine has way over $600 dollars worth of parts in it not mentionioning how much the engine was Originally.

Funny how things work - some people are dying to get a turbo engine, while I'm here seating with a complete, ready to swap S14 SR20DET and I just don't want to install it because I want to stay NA. I bouth this kit for $3,000 a couple of months ago thinking that it was time to go turbo, but all I want to do is build my own set of ITBs, get some nice cams, work on the head and add high comp pistons. To each, its own - I guess!!!

I wanted to stay NA, and I did it for a while and now I want to switch it up with a sr, but if you want to sell the sr setup I'll do some trading.

i'll take the longblock and the intake for $500, you can sell the rest of it, including the clutch and flywheel. i could even pick it up, or meet you halfway to make shiping easier. let me know.

you're only about 8 hrs away, we could meet halfway.

Umm, sounds good enough for me Driving halfway might be a little tough. I dont have a truck and it would be pretty heavy to pick up anyway. If you want to come pick it up its yours, I have a cherry picker at the shop and a pallet we can set it on and tie it down to. So just email me at [email protected] to discuss any questions or details you have.
