Ok i have the typical weird idle problem as well as hard shifting problem(it's an Automatic).

I researched through the threads but i don't see very many pix and i'm still confused as to what needs to be done.

The problem(s):

Idle is high. about 1000 rpms after it's warmed. When i turn on the heater fan(not AC) it jumps up another 300 or 400 rpms. After i've been driving it for a while and come to a stop and park it the idle will jump up to 1600 for a while before it settles back down to 1000rpms. Sometimes i've noticed it jump around after i park it again and go from 1600 to 1900 rpms and back and forth.

The transmission shifts pretty hard sometimes. In first gear it feels like it doesn't have any power. Today driving home it was jumping through gears sort of weird. It would downshift and then upshift right away for no reason. The other day it took a REALLY long time before it jumped in to overdrive and i always warm up my car before i drive it so it was at the correct temp. Also when i come to a stop, during braking, i notice it jumps a tad bit while decelerating between 5mph to 2mph. Sort of like the automatic "realizes" it shouldn't have the planetary gear engaged.

What i've changed:

Fixed egr and bpt hoses and got rid of my check engine code.Sealed up IAC pump thing below the black box on the drivers side. I just sealed the fins so that no exhaust gas is going into the intake. It fixed my original bouncing lower idle(in exchange for the higher idle).I've done the basic tune up, plugs, wires, distributor, cleaned throttle body.

What i think may be the problem:

TPS, IACV and FICD(coming on when just the heater comes on).

I don't have an FSM(nor do i have the money at this point to purchase one) so i don't know how to check the TPS, IACV and FICD voltage/outputs to make sure they work or even where the IACV and FICD are as well as the idle adjust screw or the proper way to time this vehicle.

Nissans are a new world to me. Ask me anything like this about a toyota and i can break it down to you and tell you where everything is and what it does(pretty much). I really need the help of the knowledgeable forum people on this because i have to smog my car soon and i'm on a tight budget right now so i can't go around buying books(which i know i need and will get in time) and still have money to replace parts.

Thanx for anyones help.

Try adjusting your tps. The center wire should be about .5v at idle with the car fulley warmed up.
