hello, I'm having some issues with my 1990 automatic hatchback....

it won't rev past 5k rpm's, its like hitting a brick wall, the engine almost altogether stops making noise, then the rpm's start bogging down........

does it in 1st or 2nd..... also the higher rpm's feel slow as hell, if I have 2nd or 3rd winding out it takes forever, if u get off the throttle fully, say back down to 50% throttle... it gets faster lol

any help would be appreciated

also, bought this car from original owner, old lady... doesn't look like much maintenance has been done, maybe a headgasket or such......... the head is kinda clean, I see some sensors and brackets with bolts not back on and someone cut and crimped all the fuel injector wires back together.........

I also just changed the fuel filter, slightly clogged, and slightly brownish blackish tinted fuel was blowing out of it when I blew through it.... I thought this might have fixed the issue but it didn't, so let me know if you guys have any ideas.....

thank-you

almost all cars have a speed limiter. it sounds like safe mode to me. the car has a problem and more than likely the computer has picked it up and knows a/b it and maybe the general area too.. is ur check engine light on? try using a code scanner to see if it has picked up anything. autozone usually does them for free.

I'll scan it tomorrow at my dad's shop

no C/E light, but at startup my O/D light flashes about 10 or so times, so I know thats probably a transmission code, plus the 1-2 shifts pretty firmly, moresor then my brother's... and we used to think his shifted fairly hard for an OEM transmission

I know about speed limmiters, I'm not anyone near that, it does it in 1st and 2nd gear.......
