It should be just fine for under 20ish lbs of boost. It's iron baby, good old cast iron.........

Using forged sleeves enables you to over bore more while being able to run stupid amounts of boost. Its not very expensive to do either. I know its about 75 bucks a cylinder for a 350 SB. Depends on if the sleeves are custom or not...blah.

As I said in the email, I wouldn't go more the .030 for high boost apps. You can always ball hone your cylinders to clean them up. That barely removes any actual surface diameter. It just removes the glaze from the old piston rings.

The KA is a sand cast block. Due to the nature of sand casting, the cylinder walls may not be perfectly even in thickness at all points. If you bore too much and run high cylinder pressures, it is possible you may flex a cylinder wall. Sleeves ensure there is sufficient wall thickness all around the bore.

Frankly speaking, the slight overbore is not going to net you much in the way of power. Depending on what your goals are you may want to consider not overboring if you can help it.

WD thanx that is exactly what i was thinking. Do you know where i can get my block sleeved ? Im in CA but i guess i could ship. I did some searches but come up with very little. I think the forged sleeves would be a nice touch and added benefit on the way to 500+hp :) I just have to find a shop to sleeve for me i think im just gonna bore to .5mm. Thanx for the info guys !

If you're not planning on making over 600hp to the wheels what is the point of sleeving? I see so many people on here wanting to spend unnecessary amounts of dough just to be no faster than the guy who spends half as much.

I thought that was clear already, my block is @ .30 over right now. And im not real sure im comfortable running almost 30psi on .40 over. And yeah I might run towards 750rwhp later but for starters im shootin for a simple 500 :)

Peace :)

How about over boring the cylinders then have the block cryogenically frozen for extra strength and spackle the outside of the block with JB weld? God I come up with some crazy shiot!

Don't laugh, cryogenic treatment works...i studied it in one materials subject as part of a mech eng degree.

Sleeves definitely work. I built a turbo '92 SHO that was bored/sleeved and stroked. End displacement was 3.4L (and put 227 FWHP down before boost). Ended up boosting 14 PSi and easily obtaining 450+ FWHP on a very streetable car.
