Just my .02

If it's a daily driver it needs carpet. Or it's hot and loud for basically no reason. Any gains made by weight reduction can be made by adding 1-2 psi of boost.

If this isn't a daily, then disregard then entire post...lol.

What color are you going with for paint?

Let me add to that i had no carpet in mine as a daily driver and let me just inform you that the driver side floor board gets hotter than hell. You will not like it. In addition, you will have to have your A/C blowing twice as hard to keep the inside cool ( considering you still have your A/C, if not it going to be some serious heat going inside there) so if this is a daily driver just keep the carpet in it with that insulation underneath, its there for a reason...

Just my added .02 cents

its a dd, but i really don't give a f*** about noise. I love noise. I most likely am going to put the carpet back, but that foamish stuff is goin, cause it was nasty as hell. I will most likely keep the black sound deadening that i would otherwise have to chisel, or dry ice/liquid no to get off. I just finished wiring the drivers side power fold function, and boy was that a b**** getting the wires through the rubber gromet in the door. The previous owner definitely got a maaco job, cause there is s***ty light blue overspray everywhere, including that boot whixch is now crusty as hell.

As for paint, I really like the original color of this car, but I'm also considering midnight purple, brickyard, super black, Mercedes White, Cosmos Black or Hellrot red (M3 colors). IDK I also really like grey. I have no idea what color, but thats not gonna be till next summer most likely. This car will see its first events in drift and auto x before it sees paint, so depending on how much tires start costing, it may never see paint. We shall see.

you might want to pop out your freeze plugs and check what you got through your coolant passages.

look at the piping that the coolant goes thru.its all rusty.

which means..

theres probably more rust inside the block.

same thing happened to my homies ride. it was all rusted out just like that, and it would overheat. i just poped the freeze plugs and gave it a good clean. and it was running chill.

i would defininatly look into it. you wouldnt want your ride running hot after you turbo it.

nah that kinda looks like an I-6 head hmmm.. maybe jeep cherokee. V12 would be nice thou..... I call dibs on the next 599 Florino engine on ebay!!!!

btw to the OP the rods you bought weren't BC Pro rods. Enjuku's description is wrong. Pro rods cost over $550 but enjuku is selling them for 379 or so. If that were true BC basic rods should be cheaper than Eagle's! I say save that web page if they send you BC basic rods you can bust out the pic and say wait a minute!

I know bout the rods, and I got amazing deals on everything I bought, so when I asked for basic and it said pro for the price I paid I wasn't trippin. I should get the block monday or tuesday, so expect the build to start

Alright this update's gonna be a long one!

So I finally got some more parts:

My 850's

Then it came time to assemble the block:

There they are all lined up with proper ring placement

Lower chain

Head:

At this point I was working everyday. It was still summer, August to be exact, and I was still not making nearly enough progress with the build. The shop was too busy and hectic dealing with the move to the new shop that I barely had time. It was unfortunate but good things were to come.

gets closer.

I decided to mock the turbo on there, just for some inspiration: It looked a lil funny without the intake but it got me going back on the project.

I went on to finish the motor that day:

August 10th I added the clutch and got ready for the drop:

It was D day. August 18th we had some spare time around the shop so we went ahead and dropped the engine:

This is how the car sat at the end of the day. Motor bolted in, barely anything connected.

so for a month I did almost nothing, which believe me did not feel good, but with the shop move taking place, school starting again, and life difficulties I just couldn't work on it. I finally got some more gauges, STRI DSD CS:

Then still not any progress worth documenting for a month, then I got my ecu.

Test fitting the intercooler last weekend. Had to cut the frame rail that sticks out past the radiator support in order to fit it behind the bumper bar.

There it is in its most likely final home.

This piece still needs to get welded to the lower piece, and have a bov flange welded to it.

My intake minus the N62 MAF. Intake is courtesy of my friends M3 in the first couple pics. We used the other half to fab a custom intake for his super charger. I'm gonna try and get a Dinan CARB sticker

And this is how she sits, with bumper bar drilled through, and the bumper to match.

So I got a lot left, but hopefully it will be done soon. I had estimated about 12 REAL hard hours of work to finish, but s*** keeps on taking a lot longer than I anticipate, and work keeps kicking back up. But soon it'll be done, and I'm really shooting to get it done before: But we'll see as the event approaches.

could have... but didn't. they were cheap enough anyways.

anywho, got almost all of my wiring done, minus audio and 1 more gauge, but thats as simple as tapping a hole in the exhaust.

This is not where they're being mounted at all, its just for show...

And I got my fuel system done! pics of that later when I stop being lazy.

October 17th,Went up North to meet a guy who had a son that totaled his 300zx. Grabbed the whole rear knuckles and an HKS Filter for 200. Also hit up pick n pull and got an N62 and piggy tail.

If only I had a MAP sensor instead of maf..

October 22nd I got my EGT Sensor.

Since that was the last piece of the puzzle, I started putting my interior back together October 24th. That was about 4 hours into it. It took me a whole working day, and I hadn't put the seats in yet. Mind you thats a good amount of smoke breaks, and a lot of fitting and refitting.

The final product made me smile though. I really just need my cage, steering wheel, seats, harnesses, and a couple more odds and ends and I will be completely happy with it. Also need better sound components but that will be a little later.

The Cockpit shot lights off

Lights on

The Dins

November 14th, The "Whats left" picture

Same day, the oil cooler mock up shot.

I measured out that 90* fittings would give me clearance in that location, so I centerted it a little offset to the drivers side, then permanently mounted it with bolts and nuts. No picture tho.

So that's where I'm at now. The intercooler hot pipe is next door getting welded, so im prayin in the next couple of weeks it will be running. Sorry for such a long post guys, hope your enjoying the build so far.

ya know honestly it was an E bay item that was way too pricey. I coulda made something that would have functioned just as well, actually better, but it was too clean to pass up.

with that said, it fits poorly. There are gaps between the pod holder and the panel. The carbon weave has imperfections. The method that was supplied for "securely" fitting it to your door is just outright stupid. I had to modify it to keep it put when you close the door..

tiny update: Got my 90* fittings. Just need my sensors to get back from stri and I should be on my way to finishing.

Update: Nov 21Got my 90's solved my oil cooler issues

Dec 3rdGot my piece back from inertia labs. On top is a robotic weld just for reference.

Dec 4thsame piece as above, but now with the BOV flange welded.

Here is the piece installed

and my turbo, and wastegate fully installed with lines run to boost controller and everything.

So very very close. Should be running before the end of next week. Way too ecstatic!

looks clean, but for a cleaner install run the oil line under the motor u can use zip ties to hold it to the frame thats what i did.
