I am at a loss on this one. I have a KA24DET run by an AEM standalone ECU and an MSD 6A. it has been converted from MAF to MAP. It starts up and idles perfectly, but as soon as you give it any throttle is misses like crazy and is undrivable. The voltage readings out of the MSD, TPS, Power transistor and coil are all good and consistant. When I put a timing light on it, I can see it randomly dropping the number one cylinder (didn't check the others). The plugs all look good, the distributor cap and rotor are all in great shape and the plug wires are new. It just started doing this recently and before had a weird miss at 2500 RPM only. Bad distributor, crank angle sensor? I don't have a ocilliscope so I can't check the crank angle sensor output with any accuracy. Anyone have any ideas or heard of this before????

Is there a way to run you're car without the MSD box. According to my friend they aren't too reliable. I say that because I have a 6AL and my car just started missing at 5000rpm. He told me try it w/out the box, but I can't because I have a crane cam racing ignition coil and I don't want to blow my ignitor. a blaster ss can work safely thou.

Fiznat, old KAT mod, also ran the AEM EMS and had trouble with his MSD 6 ignition box. I believe he went through 2-3 of them before he said screw it and went stock.

The problem turned out to be the AEM ECU. The cam and crank angle sensors were going in and out of sync when I gave it throttle causing it to miss fire. I had my tuner redo the whole ignition map and it cured the problem. Hopefully it will run good enough to put some miles on the new engine when it stops raining.
