I Have a KADET that has developed a curious problem and wondered if anyone has run across it. I recently installed an AEM stand alone system and since the install have had a stumble/miss at 2500 RPM under low to moderate load. The engine has an MSD 6A and has been converted to MAP and previously had a JWT ECU with MAF and no stumble. My AEM tuner says he can see it happening on the laptop but can find no reason or manfuctioning sensors to create it. MSD says that it can't be the box. Any ideas???

I'll start by saying, "I have no clue of answering your question, so I apologize for posting off topic." That being stated, based on your name and logical deduction I assume you have a datsun 510 with a KA-T installed. I am in the process of getting mine done and was wondering if you had any pics of your setup? Also, what are all the mods you have done, any performance comments...ie. quarter mile time, horsepower? I havent seen many KA-T 510's so just wanted to hear from someone with a little experience. Thanks

You are correct in your deductions. If you susbscribe to the Dime Quarterly it was the cover car of the last Issue and there is also a feature on it in the January issue of Turbo & High Tech Performance. The original engine I put in it is a 1992 KA24DE(T) that has JE pistons, modified stock rods, O-ringed block, JWT computer and cams, 740cc injectors, etc. It put down 279 HP and 289 lb. ft. of torque at 10psi (the waste spring was maxed out) with a Turbonetics T3/T4 Hybrid turbo. Compression ratio was 8:1 with the custom pistons. That engine is currently on one of my engine stands. The new engine is a 1993 KADE block that has been O-ringed as well but has 9.2:1 JE pistons, Eagle H beam rods and a GT28RS "Disco Potato" turbo. I still have to fabricate another exhaust manifold and will probably go with 555cc injectors with a realistic goal of 300-330 streetable WHP. The T3/T4 spooled up too slow for my tastes hence the switch to a smaller BB turbo. shoot me an e-mail at [email protected] with your number if you want to talk in person.
