Hey! I was researching the KA24DET engines and have heard many people say that these engines are not meant to be turbo charged and often result in detonation and other malfunctions. Are these modifications worth the money? I really want a 240, but dont want to have to worry about not having a reliable daily driver.

PLEASE SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE!!

Do some searching here and you'll find out that that crap just isn't true. If not, just go buy a honda. There are many members here with daily drivers making 300+hp with no problems. And when something does happen, there is usually a reason, like bad tuning or some other reason that was not a problem with the engine just the operator.

It just depends on what kind of setup you run. there have been many problems with some KA-Ts but there are lots of problems with a lot of other cars as well. just remember that many people who go KA turbo are looking for a cheaper solution to a swap. The ones who have problems will usually be the ones that were very cheap and poorly done. the engine was not built to be boosted but many engines werent. but just like any honda, if you do it right and dont take the cheap way out by using crappy parts, you can have a very reliable build. many people are running around with 300whp on stock internals with the KA. just build it well, and get a VERY good tune, and you will be set!

They fail because of cheap parts/bad tune/not enough supporting mods like fuel or too advanced timing
