a little help for those needing it i may forget something cause this is based on memory, first if ur capable of removing the engin itself do it that way it is a lot easier, so first dissconnect ur batt. , remove spark plug wires and distributor cap be shure to lable everything its alot easier to install when you know where it goes mark where the rotor is pointing to on the distibutor for when its installed you dont need to find tdc again then remove the dizzy with the 2 bolts top and bottom, then crawl under the car and remove the starter for clearance of the lower intake you dont need to disconnect any wires to it just lay it to the side you can then reach the three bolts to the steel brace holding the lower intake remove these along with the bracket then from the front remove the intake pipe and plastic upper radiator shroud, then remove the large rubber hose going to the lower shroud remove the evep canister leaving the vaccuum lines attached and bring it to the pass. side of the car, use a 10mm wrench and remove the front cintrifical fan you can then remove your electric fan and lower shroud, now remove upper and lower radiator hoses and remove radiator, then loosen and remove powersteering and alt. belts then remove you alternator and unplug it you can now reach the front 3 bolts for the bracket holding the lower intake located near the engine mount its about 6in long and 3/4 inch round, now i suggest removing the water pump and replacing it as its easy to do, now remove all connectors from sensors and fuel injectors remove throttle and cruise controll cables as well, next remove the egr hose from the exhaust manifold with a 23-24mm wrench if you can it is alot easier if you can get it off if not its a little struggle with the intake setup, next remove the exhaust mani and pull it away from the engine you shouldnt need to remove it from the downpipe, next remove hoses leading to the front of the block from the lower intake you can leave them attached to the intake remove the 3bolts for the egrvalve and the 2 bolt for the egrvaccum supply located on the upper intake remove bolts for the lower intake and it should drop down pay attention to the vaccuum lines on the rear of it twards the firewall if you can reach behind the head with a 12mm wrench you can remove the plate with the vaccume switches on it or just unplug the lines and lable them now remove the lower intake, next remove the upper and lower fuel lines and the bracket with 2 10mm boltsremove the 2 plugs for the vaccume switches behind the head now take and remove the black plastic harness from the intake and valve cover take the whole harness and lay it up on the windshield now take and remove the bolts for the upper intake and the remaining vaccum lines to the rear and lable them now remove intake, next remove the valve cover and front timeing cover now mark the cam gears and chainwhere they meet and the chain and where it meets the middle big gear, now hold the cams with a 1" wrench and remove the cam gears with a 15/16 socke i belive lay them in place and use zip ties to hold them to the chain in place, remove the bolt in the middle where the main gear is an remove the upper chain from it then zip the lower chain to it so it doesnt move, remove the main caps and keep them in order now remove the cams and then the head bolts now the removal is complete, note that when installing the cams if the engine is at top dead center the right cams dowel pin should be pointing stright up remember this will not happen if you motor is not at tdc. that should be everything for removal i may have missed something as this is all based on memory.
