Hey so this is my first post so dont hate me lol. So i have a 1991 240sx and its always smoked a little since ive had it, but recently its been shooting alot of white smoke and it first it reaked of fuel (also had a odd idle, when the rpms were dropping it would stop at 1500, then contiue down) so i thought it was a stuck open fuel injector or sumthin like that. I ran cleaner through it and for a few days it didnt smoke at all or smell like fuel or coolant and it ran fine with no rpm hesitation. So i thought it was fine. But today it resumed smoking and its idling high and doing the rpm thing again. Is it really the head gasket?

Come to think of it, same here, the 2 days it didnt smoke it was like lower 50's high 40's, and now its back in the 30's, and theres smoke. Im gunna just do the head gasket and hope for the best.

Sounds like a gasket or valve guide seal. When my 5.0 Mustang did that it ended up being a valve guide seal. Be sure to replace them before you put the head back on.

From my experience, a little white smoke on startup during cold weather is completly normal. Now white smoke at all times, even when the car is warmed up is definatly a sign of a blown headgasket or valve seal.
White smoke = your burning water/coolant
Black smoke = your running rich/ excessive fuel in air/fuel mixture
Blue smoke = your burning oil
