so ive been talking to a guy i kno about buying his daughters daily driver...a 1992 240sx fastback...it has a stock ka24de motor and has 141k miles...so he had her park the car to do some maintnance on the car before selling it...before he started working on it the car had sat for a week or so...when he started it it was smoking bad so he shut it off...the good news is now he'll give it to me for 300$ because he doesnt have the time to look at it and fix it...the bad is idk whats wrong with it...his guess was either a blown head gasket or a cracked block cuz he could see oil dripping down the block...but i havent looked at it yet so idk.....

what should i do and what do you think is wrong with it?

if it is the block does anyone have a ka24de motor for sale or that they are willing to part wiht?

any help or opinions are greatly apprecitated

thanks all....happy holidays

Do you have compression test or leakdown test results? Otherwise this is worthless, but knowing what I know, I would say head gasket or cracked head, since the block is pretty tough.

where is the oil on the block. It could be something really simple like a seal. If the car was sitting and was fine enough to drive before it was parked then Im not sure how the HG is playing into it. Unless there were other symptoms before that the guy didnt tell you about, but 300 bucks...who cares. get the car pull the motor and rebuild it. I agree with Chezedik. the chancesof hte block needing anything more than expansion plugs is very slim. those blocks are very tough and it takes an abnormal girl to mess one up.
