Ive got a S13 with a KA24DE automatic...

Whenever I hit freeway speeds....my water temp tends to go down or fluctuate up and down.

This event happens with or without load on the engine.

Pass 2.5k RPM it starts going down.

Im thinking its the water pump, engine has about 137k miles on it, it doesnt leak any coolant.

Does anyone know what would cause this? Thanks.

Check the single wire sending unit connector at the front of the intake manifold. The connection could be poor or the actual lug mount on the sender could be loose.

It could be stuck slightly open. but what I am getting out of your discription it sounds more like a loose connection on the single wire sending unit.
