how many cams and valves are in the cylinder head.

1 cam/12 valves(8 intake, 4 exhaust) for the E2 cams/24 valves for the DE

Actually the DOHC has 16 valves. If it had 24, we'd all have 6 valves per Cylinder...which would not be that bad...

yeht he ka24de has 16 valves not 12. And of course the DE has 2 cams rather than just one in the E. The E motor does though have a better set of pistions, but still hands down the DE motor is the better of the two and will always have more potential.

they prove to pull just as hard...and with alil bit of tuning the E motor can hang top end as well...i have an E and can actually give the DE a run for its money if not destroy it...so potential wise...they're both good power houses...short end its all E...top end i give it to DE...

im sorry i have to agree w/ you man. Ive got a 91 240sx (DOHC) w/ i/h/e. and my cousin has 90 240sx (SOHC) w/ i/e. And i beat him by about 6 cars consistantly and i dont think the header alone is making all of that difference. Both cars are 5sp.

the compression is also diffrent. I think a lot of things are diffrent. Im pretty sure you can't swap heads either.

no mounting the head would be an impossible task.. seeing as how they have diffrent bolt patterns. but i will have to say as an E owner the car has pep and potential to be just as good if not better than the DE IMHO.. theres allot of room for improvement if your willing to shell out the cash, just a matter of how light you want your wallet to feel.-edgar

i had both at one point...an '89 and a 96 and they are both very torquey and both have a very healthy feeling to them. i have the SOHC still but want to upgrade to a DOHC or SR swap.

Actually, the E only had 140hp stock but I think he might have meant potential-wise.....

sohc (89-90)

-12 valve (3 valves per cylinder)-140 hp-152 ft lbs-9.1:1 compression (early 89)-8.6:1 compression (late 89-90)

dohc (91-98)

-16 valve (4 valves per cylinder)-155hp-160 ft lbs-9.5:1 compression

some of you need to do some homework.

i'm closing this one before people get confused.
