Installed an unorthodox pulley and converted to a Koyo radiator with electric fans. What a difference in hp. I didn't expect to feel any difference since it's only supposed to be worth a few hp but it's definately noticable.

Bit of work to install a thermostatic electric fan switch but all turned out very nice.

If anybody is considering it.

removing the fan doenst increase hp by 4-5 rpms....not a snowballs chance in hell..i have the UR pulley also and electric fans, and you are right there is a big difference..

Well if the fans arn't running there is a big hp difference. If they are, not so much. How did you wire in the A/C for the fans, if you did? I haven't yet.

i actually wired the electric fan to the acc wire and it always stays on...its kinda ghetto and it always stays on...but the a/c fan wiring is already there..if you do have a dual setup then you could possibly dedicate one of the fans for only the a/c. its really up to you

You can get a unit from summit racing that bascially only allows the E-fan to come on when the coolant reaches a certain temp. MIght want to look into that.

that also is a good idea...i used to have that unit that you were talking about...but my gf was watching me do some work on the can and when i was explaining to her about a few things, she grbbed the probe out of radiator with her pants with out knowing and ripped it all right out.. now i just have them wired to the accesory wire...

just be careful..ive been through 2 units before, make sure to completely seal the little boxes in a small bad..i live in key west and we get lots of water on the road and have been through everyone of them, water messed up my 2 temp sensors.

I didn't use the cheap radiator probe set up. I got an adapter for the top hose, drilled and taped it to 3/8's and used a regular thermostatic switch. Both fans are wired into this control. The relay is a waterproof unit. Works great except I have to wait untill the engine is warm to have A/C at idle. I'm thining of another relay using the stock A/C fan wire to turn the fans on but have been a bit lazy to start the wiring.

If I put in a 180 thermostat vs the stock 195 will I have problems with the computer thinking the engine is to cold?

The stock thermostat actually opens at 170. I had the Nismo low-temp thermostat in my 240 for a while and yeah, it took a lot longer for it to get to normal temperature (stock mechanical fan and shroud). It would pretty much stay at 160-170 (as measured by aftermarket coolant temp gauge) even after stop-and-go driving for a while. When the coolant temp is below a certain point the ECU will run the fuel/air mixture a bit richer.

I know this may sound newbish but really, what's the point of an aftermarket thermostat? why can't the stock thermo handle the job just as good as an aftermarket? The manufacturer has the t-stat set at a certain temp to open to allow the engine to warm up sufficiently. So it sort of seems counter-intuitive to change it.

in the hobby of drifting you have to step back and take a look at the car when it drifts....sideways with ultra hirg rpms and minimal cooling at best...so we rely on various types of coolers, transmission, oil, radiators. and we have to get that air flowing...long story short, we use aftermarket thermos to lower the temp the water has to be to open...because water can only cool so much, and to stop it from getting hot it merely stays open for a longer period....sorry im kinda stoned right now and im having some difficulties....at least im not driving
