Car is a 91 240sx with a 91 KA24DE

Alright ill just get right into it and begin with the actual problem.

When i start the motor it just revs BY ITSELF to around 4-5k until i turn it off.

the problem began when we swapped the motor. first it ran on 2 cyl, choppy idle, sounded like a boxer and shot flames. After that was sorted out and it was running on 4 cyl's (timing, new dizzy, and sparkplugs) the idle was still VERY choppy. when cold if u gave a little gas it would stall. but when warm it would hold idle but was very unstable and shook the car.

*I have removed a bunch of emissions stuff.

-PCV (clogged holes in upper manifold, valve open and VTA)
-EGR removal
- Butterfly removal (left the rod inside, and left the swirl valve on but unhooked it)
- AIV removed (no tube going into the black box)

So, i went back online and started looking at a bunch of different forums about emissions removal to see if i had missed anything. Turns out i had forgot to clog the vacuum line from under the throttle body that goes into the manifold. ( if im not mistaken its the "purge" line? from the carbon canister)
The "CV" line is still hooked up.
After clogging the line and putting everything back together the motor just revs by itself as i explained before

PART INFO
New o2 sensor
new NGK sparkplugs
new dizzy
Timing has been addressed.

Please let me know anything that will help with getting this swap over with. It was my first swap i have ever done and has been nothing but problems.

Sorry if this has already been reviewed but i couldn't find ANY info that would correspond with my problem.

Id see if your throttle stop screw is too right. Also check for vacuum leaks, injector seats, brake booster, intake mani and throttle body gasket.

Do you mean the idle screw on the IACV referring to the throttle stop screw?

No. on the throttle body there is a screw there to be able to crack open the butterfly so it doesn't stick. A lot of times people use that screw to adjust idle but that id definately not what its for.

Also, make sure the throttle cable is routed properly. Loosen the tension as well.

Could the intake manifold gasket have that much of an effect to make the car rev to 4-5k by itself? The gasket was a little cracked when i took the manifold off.

yeah the throttle body gasket is pretty important. did you try and disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body? just to see if there was any tension on it.

two things, why did you remove the pcv system? you should really have one. when you removed the swirl control valve did you pin the valve open, its normally closed!! It really sounds like you have an intake leak and the motor has no way of closing off the intake, the more air it sucks in the faster the motor runs. i would remove the intake tube and visually check the throttle body to make sure its closed. if its closed tightly then i would start checking the intake for vacuum leaks. check the intake gaskets, brake booster line (plug the booster line to check for a leak in the booster) check the pcv ports and make sure they are blocked off ( if you insist on having no pcv). honestly if you have no pcv, pairv, egr, or canister then you should only have one short vacuum line going from the intake manifold to the fuel pressure regulator and all others should be capped off.

I have checked all the vacuum lines, brake booster and all is good. The tb is closed and the cable does not have unnecessary tension on it. Took the IACV off cleaned it and adjusted the idle screw, also cleaned the tb.

Could you elaborate on pinning the swirl valve open? Do i have to take it off? I just pulled the vacuum line off the swirl valve.

IIRC, the SCV is normally open.

i took mine off, it needed a spring or peice of wire to hold it open.
