KA24DE transmission top position sensor

Hi techs,
I have a 93 240 with KA24DE engine, recently bought a transmission and ready to swap into my 240. the new transmission's bell housing is missing a sensor hole than the OE one i had. It is the very last one near to the gear box right next to the reverse light switch. The service manual said it is a top position switch, aka the 4th gear switch. Is it neccessary to plug that in? I search all over the net, some said is for cruise control, no ill affect, some said it is speed sensor. please let me know if i need that to plug in, thanks

No you dont need it. All I run is reverse and speedo with no issues.(i dont have cruise control sou don't know about that)

But don't leave it open. Plug it.

Thanks compact n taylor double O'eight, i just dont want to bring to a machine shop to tap a hole on the bell housing, if is not needed, i wont bother to do it. But i no is best to have all the sensor/switch plug in. read some thread, ppl said the speedometer wont work at 4th gear if u cut the wire of this sensor/switch.

My speedo works fine and both 4th and 5th are not hooked up. Also if you look at an ecu pinout, I don't recall any wires for either sensor.

Transmission installed, car runs great, very smooth shifting, 4th n 5th gear swtich NOT plug in, CEL not on, speedometer normal.
conclusion, for S13, speed sensor and reverse light swith is a must
for S14, speed sensor and reverse light swith + Crank position switch
