Hey I happened to find a ka24de timing chain kit for really cheap. The website is http://www.overnightautoparts.com. It comes with the cam gears, crank gear, slack and tension guides, both tensioners, 2 cam bolts, both chains and the front crank seal. In the ka24de parts menu, under the headings engine mechanical there is the listing for the kit. If you go under the timing tensioners and then select the upper tensioner button, the next page will have the kit listed for around $66 and then an extra $13 or so for second day air. I ordered it yesterday around 1:30 on the west coast and it got to me today around noon and they are in New Jersey! I just thought I'd let you guys know. The parts look like they are good quality. I think the price is a mistake but some of you might want to take advantage of it before they catch it if it is. $89 for a the kit on my door step 24 hours later is a great deal! Later :ylsuper

Dude, what are you talking about? What do you mean by "real member"? I have the parts and the quality looks good and I've worked on enough cars to know cheap*** parts when I see them. When you are a college student with a limited budget, then you look for the best deal. I didn't tell anyone to buy them now, just letting people know. I have seen the oe parts and they look about the same. And why should I spend $300+ dollars on a motor that only has to last me 6 more months? And if I wanted bike chain parts I could pull them off my Karpiel. Thanks for input though, "real member"

Just did a little research about my timing chain kit. Turns out, the manufacturer of my kit, Tsubaki, is the manufacturer of Nissan's timing chain parts. Look them up in a google search and see for your self. And I checked out the overnightautoparts website again. The part is mistakenly priced in one of the sections. It is supposed to be $215, which is still a good deal I think. So I lucked out in that respect, it is however still listed for $65 or so under the heading that I found it at. Later

I guess it was a cheap shot, but i usually like to buy only parts that have "nissan" on the box, it insures that the engine is working with oe tolerances. 215 is pretty good though.

I understand your point about the having "Nissan" on the parts. But many times the real manufacturer of the parts will sell the same stuff without the brand name on them for cheaper. Bosch has done it for years. Remember that having Nissan stamped on the side doesn't make a part any better.

OK sure however i am offering my "nissan" kit for 200, and thats not a shabby deal considering that they are OE parts, true and true. Where did you find out that company was the manufacturer of nissan's parts anyway? I always thought that nissan had its own factories.

The company is Tsubaki and they manufacture timing related parts like chains, gears, tensioners and such. On their website it says that they have be making parts for companies including Toyota and Nissan for 30 years or so. Your price is good and if I had known beforehand, I probably would have looked into getting it from you. I think Nissan has its own factories, but I don't think they would make every part needed themselves. I think it is much cheaper to contract out to parts-specific companies for certain parts than to buy equipment and set up a devoted facility, especially for the smaller parts.

aww you lucky dog!!! I hate you!! I just bought all of that, plus the water pump ($71), thermostat($11), and all the belts ($32).

From nissan = $354.51 w/ tax included. Purrs like a kitten, and didn't gain any performance back what so ever!! LOL!!!

Wow, it allready came in and I just tried out the two lower guides...you wont be able to re-use the old bolts, but there are two bolts included in the kit that look identical to cam bolts that fit perfectly. Other than that, it looks like it's very well made, better than the parts that were on my engine (although I dont know if it's had the guides replaced, if it has it's possible they used an aftermarket kit that was slightly substandard) I'm very impressed with the kit and the price just dropped back down to only 66 bucks!!! This is a real deal to jump on!

thepartsbin.com is the same store as well. The actual company is called All OEM Parts, Inc. They sell oem parts for almost any car. Like the guy said above its made by the OEM manufacturer just without the Nissan logo on them.

Some things are not OEM though, they offer different brands of belts, plugs, etc. Its mostly engine related stuff that is OEM.

Like I said...one of the lower guides (the straight one) cant use the stock bolts, you have to use the "cam" bolts that comes with the kit...I havent tried the rest out, just that since my block is sitting in the garage waiting for rods.

i'm thinkin bout doin it myself but it seems like theres no *****ing space between the covers and the fan /shroud and i even got the FSM. i probably don't have time anyways so how much do we(S13) have to pay for timing chain change?

pull the shroud and the radiator at the very least. that will open up lots of room.

I finally got around to replacing the timing parts, school has taken up so much time. Everything fit perfectly except you have to use the new bolts on the straight lower guide as stated above. The car runs great and the parts were top notch. Remove the fan and shroud so you can get to the covers. You also have to drop the crossmember so that you can get the oil pan off, at least on the de's. There is no room to pull it out if you don't.
