KA24de Timing chain broke. Is the KA24DE a non interference engine

Long story short my freshly built KAT motor broke the timing chain while at 4k rpm due to improper installation of tensionor. Anyways, is the KA a non interference motor or did my valve and piston have a unpleasant meeting. The head is coming off tommorrow just want to prepare my level of anticipation anger.

I just got a call from my bro. I guess they were slow at work today when I was gone so they pulled the head off. Aparantly its not non-interference, intake valves in cylinder #1 hit the piston ever so slightly. I never catch a break with this car, It was sitting for 3 months while the motor was built, I get it running last week and now this. Head is going back to the machine shop and I should get it back for hopefully this weekend (ya right with my luck) or by next. Its been so long I forgot how the car feels.

the timing chain in my car also broke around 5k rpms. 2 cylinders hit and bent some valves and put dents in the pistons.

well like they say it gets worse before it gets better so hopefully soon enough things will get better for you.
