hey everyone.. i have a buddy that has a 90 240sx with the KA24DET swap, which included everything... Motor, transmission, fuel, air, turbo, even ECU. now im not positive if theres anything under the hood that was on the original motor or not.. but after installing everything everytime he tries to start it, it cranks for a while before it runs, idles ridiculously rough, and wont RPM past 3 grand. any ideas what the problem would be? ive got a couple ideas with sensors(mainly coolant temp i wanna check first) but i have a feeling there might be more than one problem. any help would be greatly appreciated guys! he's about to junk the car cuz it has been like this for years and he just doesnt care about it anymore.. so i wanna fix it and take it off his hands.. and i would gladly hook you guys up with parts for dirt cheap for helpin hahaha lets get this working! Thanks guys

Spark, fuel, compression. Thoroughly look into each of those. Simple stuff gets over looked most of the time. Take a step back and write yourself a list.

The maf may be bad, that what it really sounds like. I've gone through 3 of them because of heavy rainfall and hitting big puddles, it doesn't take much moisture to kill one.. That would be the first thing I'd check.
