I'm trying to figure out what motor to throw in my S13 Coupe (motor is way fried). I was planning on an RB20 but I think I can get more power out of a KA for probably the same price. My HICAS took a dive not to long ago and I think the block and head should be ok (with some replacement parts of course). My question is, do I really need to do a complete rebuild (ie freeze plugs, water pump, etc.) other than just throwing some forgies in? My friend plans on going over 400hp with his 7MGTE, I need to atleast try to keep up.

You might as well do those small things while you have the motor apart. I suppose it is possible to try and save a few bucks and skip out on the details, but considering the amount youre going to spend on building a forged shortblock it really doesnt make sense to skip a $30 waterpump and $10 freeze plugs.

Thanks, I figured it'd be good to do everything. Where can I find oem nissan freeze plugs, and the oil galley plugs. I tried looking on the infinityparts.com (I think that is it), but they didn't have em unless I looked in the wrong places.
