i got a quick question for ya'll. i was thinking about puting a brand new ka24de in my car soon so that way i would never have any problems ever again. but i was wondering if it was a simple job. is it just a disconecting bolt-on bolt-off process or is it more complicated than that???

Engine rebuild is, from what I've heard, way harder than a motor swap. I just did one in my front yard and everything went smooth besides my transmission messup. But if you leave transmission and motor attached and are just pulling them both out together and putting the new one in together then, yes, its bolt off bolt on. Get a buddy and some music and a couple days to do.

Also you seem to be under the impression that just because its a new motor it isn't going to need maintenance. All cars need maintenance. Accept it.

well yeah i knew that. i keep my car maintained and tuned up religiously. thats not the problem. i spend a lot of time under that hood. the "PROBLEMS" im talkin about are not "maintience related", if you'll say. i have issues with the valves(if im corect) i hear this rattle noise(you could barely hear it, but still) and from what ive heard i need a new iacv. Nothing that cant be fixed, but id rather start fresh with a brand new ka. thats all im sayin. i dont even know how well the motor was treated in the past, it has had 2 previous owners. but i will say, based off what i know, its a better motor then some peoples i know. i also just want fresh internals for my turbo.

NE ways, i was pretty much leaning on what you would do, so ill go through with what you told me. I appreciate the advice...

same here I have a 1989 240SX with a KA24E that it is just pissing me off because I changed alot of sensors and still melts my spakplugs at 3000 RPM so I just decided to buy a 1995 KA24DE and replace my ****ty KA24E. I am just going to go all street legal with that KA24DE because I asked the guy from the California Referee and he said that replacing an 89 USDM engine to a 95 USDM engine is permitted by law in california. Then Im going to replace the stock pistons to low compression pistons and rings so in the future I can go turbo legally by Greddy and have more chances to boost it HIGHER LATER IN the future..... I heard all you need is brand new low compression pistons, rings, and head gasket to run turbo without any problems in as KA24DE is that true?

The swap is pretty much a bolt off-bolt on. Good time to replace worn motor mounts, radiator, clean and paint engine bay etc.

I personaly would rebuild what you have so then you would know exatly what is in the engine and if it could or could not accept any upgrades down the road.

Plus I just like working on the engines.
