I have a 90 240sx and I recently did the DE swap..I got the engine out of a 91 coupe I bought that ran before the swap, I swapped everything over that needed to be done.. the problem Im having is that Im not getting any spark. The Engine turns over tho. I even replaced the coil and ignitor and I still have nothing..Anyone have any ideas or the same problem?

but if there is no spark hows the engine turning over? my i just recently bought a second 240 with the same problem the guy i bought it from told me when he puts a screw drive to a plug wire it doesn't spark. Isn't the plug grounded to the engine? so when you pull the wire off to check, the plug is it not going to spark?

check to make sure that there is ground. also run a volt meter on your fuse box under the dash. sounds like a short some where..as stated earlier that engine turned over!. also could be one of the big fuses under the hood fuse box. also, check to make sure that there is 12v comming from your battery. 9/10x this is usually the cause. hope this helps

im currently doing mine right now and had that problem but fixed it. you got to line up your crank at top dead center take the distributer out and reline that up. if our cars are way off u dont get spark. now im getting fuel and spark but my car still wont start

Regardless of where the timing is you should get spark, just not at the right time. To answer akira2_03 if your getting spark and fuel, only two things can be wrong. Compression or timing. Since you pulled out your distributor my bet is timing. IF not that test for compression. Timing can be very fickle.

To test for spark, pull the spark plug. Attach it to spark plug wire. Then hold the spark plug against something that is grounded. Hold it against the threads on the spark plug. Have somebody crank the motor. You should see the spark plug sparking. Make sure its a good ground your using. Bare metal is the best.
