The car has ran awesome ever since I got it about 2 months ago. Absolutely no oil leaks.... until now. The bottom of the motor before was sort of moist from oil but never dripped. I parked it like I normally do in my driveway and leave for work, and at work i get a call from my uncle "Your car left a huge oil spot on my driveway." Nice. Like I said, this car has never leaked but was slightly moist underneath. The passed few days it's been leaking a spot a little bigger than a normal sized dinner plate. The engines compression is almost perfect, but does have 175k miles on it. I don't see why it would start leaking that bad all of a sudden though. Any idea's?

It's a 91 s13 by the way.

I have a leak also when I bought the car. Took it to the dealership and for $28 bucks they were able to find the very specific area and provide me a quote.

Got a small leak coming from the rear main seal and going to cost $500 bucks to fix.

Anyhow if your paying a shop to do it except a good price range, if it's the cover dealership quotes up to $1500. If it's the rear main except around $500.

I don't think it's the rear main seal. That sits behind the clutch and flywheel, after some cracking or wear and tear the oil would leak down in the transmission bell housing and accumulate at the bottom, slowly seaping throught he gasket. Like I said it has never leaked before and all of a sudden it's leaking real bad, i know it's got to be something obvious. I haven't gotten a chance to really look at it but I figure someone could give me a head start on what im in for?

From what I recall, the oil pressure sensor is very common of leaking. As is the oil pan itself.

I had one hell of a leak when the front seal failed, since it seals the pump, also something to check.

Yesh, the front crank seal is a common leak point on the KA. I'm just glad I'm getting my rear main seal done when I get my new clutch put in.

Mine happened because I did the ASP pulley install, and didn't listen when some guys told me too drive it in deaper than stock and replace it. Did so the next day though, luckily I worked at a parts store, and it was only 3 blocks away.

check the oil filter .Sometimes, if it isn't tight enough, it will leak on the first minute or so until it gets a little heat in it ,also the o-ring between the block and front cover will also act just like this, but that sucks bad to fix.Just a suggestion or two.

check your pan. if its been a while since you serviced it, that could be your problem.

i've replaces three front main crank seals on three different KA's they always go, and its like 9 dollars or something, that rear main is like 20 bones, and requires pulling the motor and the driveplate or flywheel...

gotta be that front seal
