i heard that if you replace your exhaust cam with another intake cam from a dohc or vice versa, this will give you more power. can somebody verify this for us?thanks

it's an s13 248 degree exhaust cam (rumored to only be the 91 year) aka the same cams offered by nissan motorsports.

why the hell does everyone keep saying only the 91 year has that duration....... i have a 93 fsm which says 240/248, and my car has more of a kick at 3500rpm than the 95+ 240's ive ridden in. The 95+ KAs smaller duration makes the torque curve much flatter and you can tell.... they have a bit more pull/response at 1500-2500rpm...

I think this whole thing has been made up to help people with busted up old DOHC engines sell parts.....I'm sticking with the written facts.

If someone wants to put this to rest get a 95+, 91, 92, and 93 240 and put them on the dyno... hell, swap the cams between cars and i bet you will only see a difference with the 95+ cams.

When SCC magazine had their project 240 years ago, they did this upgrade. It made quite a bit more power and allowed much better high end breating. The S13 KA's wil not benefit as much, but they all will to some extent.

And just to make sure everyone knows before you just start swapping cams, if you use an exhaust cam for the intake valves, you must have the cam repinned as it will be way out of phase.

you need to remove the dowel pin that attaches to the can gear. Then a machine shop will need to make a new hole to accept a dowel in a new location. I'm not sure of the specifics on where, but I think(do not go by this) it's 90 degrees one way or the other.

you do not HAVE to get the cam repinned-but you do have to know where/how to align the mating marks with the swapped cam

if I wasn't so lazy I'd go outside and degree in the stock cams-then 2 ex cams and then I could tell you exactly how to do it

edit-here you go - http://www.az240sx.org/forums/...=4030

Ask around on FA. I know for sure there are some people there who have done this or at least know where to repin it to.
