Ok so lately my car has been running really weird and im not to sure why. Here are the symptoms that im having. The Car is a 1991 240sx with a 95 ka motor in it with the 91 ka parts and the car is still obd1.Its all stock except for an injen intake that is hooked up correctly using all the stock vacuum lines. Its an Se modle that was an automatic the previous owner did a 5spd swap on it everything looks normal with the swap so im assuming none of my problems have to do with that.
The Car will bog out when i take a sharp turn to the left I think that might be the gas not getting to the fuel pump since its going to the opposite side of where the fuel pump is but on my gas gauge it shows that I have like 1/3 of a tank of gas left so I am not sure why it wold bog when I turn.
The exhaust makes a horrible rattle can sound when i give it any gas above 2.5k rpms that's only when its cold. After the car warms up the exhaust sounds normal and it makes the car feel smoother to.
Also my fuel pump that's in the car is from a j30 the previous owner put that one in the car. I also changed out my coolant temperature sensor with one from a single cam motor it fit and has been working well with the car with no problems so far. I changed the last one because the resistance on it was 2.8 or something like that and it was only supposed to be at 1.4 or something like that. The used one I put in had a resistance of 1.3 I believe. So I am not sure if that may be causing any of the fuel consumption problems.
I also have a 180sx gauge cluster for my car and the gas gauge is off I think but im not sure. What it does is sometimes the needle will be at 1/3 of a tank which is at the line above the E line and my car will start to bog and run out of gas. Then I go and fill up and it runs fine after that. Then the next tank will go under the E line its self and I will just be having to get gas. So im not to sure what that is or what might be causing that.
I have the horrible rattling noise from my timing chain guide hitting the chain its the one inside the timing chain cover of course. The top guide was removed by the previous owner. The motor burns oil a little bit to about 1or 2 quarts every month to month and a half maybe.
So ultimately im just trying to figure out what is going on with my car bogging out when I take a sharp right turn. and why it gets good gas mileage one time I fill up then it gets horrible gas mileage the next time i fill up. I also forgot to mention that one day I was driving and I got up to about 115 mph and I have the green wire cut on my ecu so normally it would let me go past that like it has before but this time when I hit about 115 my car stopped its self like it normally would and then died. After that I tried starting it and it started up fine but it was just reving up and down real fast a few times then it would die. If i started it and i tried to give it gas it would died faster it seemed. After sitting and waiting for a buddy to get me I took off my negative battery cable and left it off for about a minute or 2 and then put it back on tightened it and started my car. It fired right up and was fine after that. Im wondering what that was and what might have caused that? Any help on any of the things I mentioned would be great thank you very much.
