alright this might be a common sense problem, but im kinda new to cars being as im 17 just trying to work with the car i got. anyway i got a car a month ago and have been trying to work kinks out. however, now it is backfiring bad( guessing from the air/fuel ratio being off?) when i start up if i give it just a little gas it tries dying out. but if i give a good amount it revs then backfires. it was leaking oil in cylinder 3 but i replaced the plugs, wires, and valve seal and hasn't sense. i didnt know if it was the maf, iacv, timing i really dont know or even how to check before i replace a bunch of stuff and then still not solve the problem so i thought i would come here to people of knowlege of 240's. anyone have any help?? when im driving if i have no acceleration when it first gets started it likes to die. and when im driving when i give it a little gas it likes to jerk back and forth. any ideas? i also had a friend that was helping me and he said he had to advance the timing to even get it running but i dont know if he actually did or not. ive serched and found some similar but i didnt know if a maf could cause all this or how to check if its even bad. or could it possibly be a bad fuel injector since it shakes a good bit before the engine cuts off or a fuel filter?? anyway to test this?

haha ok thanks. is there a certain way to test an maf??? and for the timing if the links arent painted or anything is there a way to time it to avoid having to pay 70 bucks to a shop to????now i check the plugs to the wires they were good. now the car is wanting to stall out unless i give it gas when i first start it. when i give it constant gas pressure it jerks back and forth like it wants to go but then back like im not getting any gas maybe? and do all timing chains have paint marks or different colored links cuz i pulled my valve seal just to try to see the two on the top 2 cams just to see if they were lined up cuz i figured if they were lined up then the others would be but there were no different colors. i even tried wiping some oil off and still nothing. any help??
