ka24de rough first start

alright i just changed the starter due to a broken housing around the teeth and i changed the timing chain cuz it looked like it was slacking a lot and hadnt been changed for the first 120k( due to dude before me) when i went to start it up for the first time since the new parts it started making a knocking sound and spraying oil over the filter. does anyone have any idea what i might of done wrong? it didnt make any knocking noises at all before i changed the parts so im confused

Did you set the timing correctly?

Did you mess with the oil pump in any way?

Check EVERYTHING you did once more, then check oil pressure once done to see if engine is still good.

I would quadtruple check the timing
