Can someone with an S14 fsm confirm the torque specs for the rod bearing bolts (the bolts that connect the cap to the rod)? I have 10-12 ft/lbs for initial tightening, then 28-32 ft/lbs for final tightening.

Thanks.

The FSM states:

Tighten connecting rod bearing nut 10 to 12 ft-lbs.Tighten bolts 60 (+5/-0) degrees clockwise with angle wrench, or if no angle wrench available, tighten bolts 28 to 33 ft-lbs.

Just a little more complicated than thought. This is from the 1996 FSM.

Alrite, thanks fellas!

The first time I rebuilt a KA was on an SOHC and we didn't torque down the rod bearing cap bolts, so the bearings wore out after ~15,000 miles! DOH. <- Lesson learned.
