ok, i dont think ive seen much on doing this but,

Im hearing a knock ( i'll post a video later so you can hear), its a very hard sounding noise, but right now its only between 2-3k and or 3-4k rpms.

my question is, say i drain the oil, remove the x member , remove oil pan, remove oil pick up plate, remove main bearing cap, move all four rods around to see which bearing is gone/bad/spun, simply remove the bad bearings rod cap, (apply lube)insert good bearing, tighten rod cap ( to spec of course lol), re-install all removed parts, fill with oil, start engine. lol

that is just IF the rod bearing/s are in fact bad.

do you think the car would run normally or would it cause alot of problems because i did no honing, measuring, all that math bs lol.

reason i want to do it like this is because i don't want to put any money into this engine, i want it to run until i save up $$ for an sr.

has anyone done this? i need input lol, and ill take a few flame throwers if need be haha. thanks nico.

If i were you i would just pull the engine get some experience disconnecting and pulling the engine/trans, and make your life so much easier. If you removed all parts it's possible but deff gonna be a pain in the a** if there is something else wrong.

Not sure if thats your problem but i'll give ya a bump to help find the answer.

i would if this wasnt my DD lol, but you guys have to remember i do not care about this engine any further than it working until i get my sr lol. but yeah i know lol, i could prolly do it the ghetto way in a couple of hours, but if i do it the right way, it'll take way longer considering id get the crank turned and all that jazz.

I understand the DD part. You could probally do this in a weekend with a few friends. I was talking the ghetto way lol. f*** taking out the pistons and crank, just get the engine and trans out so its easier to work on. I would rather be standing replacing the collar then under the car having oil drip on my face.
