My problem started when I was driving down the freeway at a speed of 65 or so after a pretty long drive the car just started going faster without me pressing the gas I pulled over turned it off and then restarted it and it idles as high as it can go. I checked the throttle cable and butterfly valve they are where they should be when I take the intake tube off and try to start it it will go between 500-2k rpms and die eventually.
Any advice on the problem would be great thanks

That's an odd problem to have. I honestly don't have a clue. It sounds like a drive by wire problem, but our cars aren't drive by wire. I would say IAC, but that would only be at idle, I think. Maybe it is your IAC. That controls your idle and allows air to travel into your intake manifold bypassing your throttle plate. Maybe some how your IAC is stuck wide open and is allowing a lot of air to flow in all the time. This is just a guess.

Sounds like there is a big vacuum leak somewhere. Can't think of anything else that could be if the throttle body looks right.
