As some of you know my 240 needs a new engine. I was looking for a CA18DET, but I just don't have the cash or the time. My plans have changed to replacing the KA24DE with one from a junkyard or something. Can you all give me some estimates as to how much this would cost to do myself after engine, misc parts, fluids, hoist, etc? TIA

I'm just looking for estimates and any hidden costs not obvious to a first-timer. I'm sure some of you guys can help me out.

theres not really any hidden costs. just:

-motor set-oil, transmission fluid, coolant, hoses, belts, gaskets, etc-hoist-stand

i got my motor set for $300, but ive seen them go for as much as $1200.
