I have a 1991240sx KA24DE 150000+mileage, stock except for air intake/filter, larger aluminum radiator, dual electric fans w/controller, and was told nismo thermostat was replaced recently.

My PROBLEM is overheating, the temp gauge pegs at times, mainly in stop n go driving. I have a check engine light(I need to flash the code out) I just bought the car and was told by a friend that it has air in the system that needs to be bled out. I opened up the bleeder, ran the car until heated up and no more air came out. Drove the car(agressive) on and off the whole day and towards the end of the day my overheating problem came back(temp gauge goes up/pegs and radiator resivoir fills slowly. Maybe I am not bleeding the air out enough. I read some 240sx website and it said nissan motors are hard to get all the air out at times and to do it on an incline(I tried this also). Is it my head gasket maybe going out soon(my friends ka24de recently experienced similiar issues and his headgasket just blew)? Is the thermostat having an issue? I checked my hoses to see if they were clasping during accel/rev, and they are holding good. Motor seems to run fine. ANY HELP APPRECIATED!!

The thermostat maybe be sticking, but definatly replace all the components u can before you blow the headgasket. cuz its a pain in the *** to replace.

Yup also make sure to get a proper coolant system flush to get all the old gunk out of it...

So check thermostat, fan, than flush, then bleed the system again. If thats not the problem check to make sure your head gasket is failing allready.
