Hey guys. I searched all over for my problem but I couldn't even track down anything with the same terminology I was using so I finally came here. I drive a 1990 240sx with a 1991 KA-t. I was driving the other day and during an accidental high rev, there was a pop noise that came from the engine bay and I lost all of my coolant. I stuck a water hose into the radiator fill cap and found all my coolant was pouring out of a hole in the back of the head. The picture attached shows what I'm talking about. The lower circular "plug" or whatever it's called is no longer there and that's where the coolant is coming from. Can someone point me in the right direction here? What happened to my engine? Thanks in advance.

no i wasnt i was driving and boom it went.. it was bc freeze plugs get weak and if your motor overheats it will expand that plug then shrink it.. and my truck had only over heated once since the day i had bought it.. and i had it two years before it overheated..

I believe he is asking the OP seeing that he has the issue presently.

Great that you had the same issue leveled, although, please refrain from jacking the entire website. You should probably just stick to your thread about how no one will help you.

Keywords "had overheated". I am guessing the OP has a problem (headgasket) which induces air into the cooling system, and creates steam pressure.

If I were you OP, I would pull the head and get it checked, Milled (if needed), cleaned, and have them replug it. But before you do that clean the deck and check it with a straight edge and feeler gauges.

Damn you guys are good. I was dealing with slight overheating issues before that but I never let it get out of hand. Turns out it was just a leaky radiator hose, so after I fixed that I hadn't had an issue until the plug popped out. I will try a new plug for sure, I just really hope heat didn't warp the head. I can't even begin to express my gratitude.

That makes me feel better. Here's the rest of the story: I was in 5th, and downshifted to 4th and gave it WOT, but on the way to 4th the shifter lifted up and came out of it's place so I basically just free-revved and that's when it popped. So I'm hoping that's the only reason. I'll post results as soon as I get the new plug in. Can I give rep/props?
