I bought a 1991 s13 and swapped a 1995 s14 engine in it, but the car did not have power steering ( lines or pump ) when I got the car, So I just have the power steering pump mounted as a tensioner for the water pump. How long will the pump last without oil? Has anyone else done this before? Does anyone have a better solution?

Are you going to be running A/C still? If not, then this is how I did mine.

I just use a 275k4 belt and cut a rib off and run a sohc waterpump pulley and i'm good. Just run it from the waterpump pulley to the crank and you're good. it stays nice and tight.

Thanks for the info. What will happen if I keep using the pump with no fluid in it? Is the power steering fluid used as a lubricant? I am not sure.

Not sure. My friends power steering sprung a leak and he drove it with no fluid for a very long time and it never seized or anything.

My ps system's been leaking for a few months now, I just pour a little in there every now and then. It continues to work fine which amazes me lol

Oh, I glanced at this site, does this really work? How would get the tension correct?
