Ok, my brother and I are to the part where you grunt, groan and swear trying to get the transmission stabbed back into the pilot bushing before bolting back up. We aren't even getting to the alignment pins. The trans stops dead with about an inch gap between the transmission housing and engine mating surface.

I am beginning to question whether I inserted the new pilot bushing far enough. I stopped tapping it in when it was flush with the bore. Is it actually supposed to be recessed any at all? Is there a lip for "bottoming" it out inside the bore? I was a little quick removing the old one, so I don't remember if it was flush with the bore opening or recessed.

We have no idea if the splines are even touching the friction disk. There's not enough clearance to see between the flywheel and bellhousing and the throwout bearing is blocking the view through the dust cover port.

Regards.

Raise the rear of the transmission as up as you can.

I'm having the same problem but with a KA24E. It just needs like an inch to close the gap. I'm not sure what the hell is in the way.

TO THE TOP.

whats with the gap? isnt the input shaft supposed to just pop in when the angles right between the block and the bellhousing?

i keep having the same problem, having a little bit of gap, and it doesnt seem to want to close up.

i just changed my pressure plate DUE TO THE BROKEN FINGER, and the pilot bushing, because my last one got all dented up from people attempting to help get my motor in and close that gap...

but now theres still a bit of gap.

im confused

no actual experience with this motor but should just slide on....if it will not something is wrong, or the opposite if theres nothing wrong put your back into it.

trying turning engine to make get splines to line up...once that is good should like i said slip right on.
