i searched but i could not find out exactly what i wanted to know. i just got a new motor put in my car, 93 240sx, and it keeps overheating at random times. when its just sitting like in traffic it would start to overheat sometimes and last night i was just cruising around and all the sudden the temp just shot way up. i have plenty of coolant in the radiator and everything. my electric fan doesnt work i dont think though or does it only come on when you turn the a/c on. somebody said it did and somebody said it didnt. anyways im hoping its just the thermo getting stuck. but i hope somebody can help me out please.

i've heard water wetter works, you might just have a bad sensor though, mine used to read like it was over heating 30 sec after i'd fire it up. get a new sensor the one that goes to your gauge is only a few bucks

you have air in your cooling system, and yes, i'm sure. The fix is in that little bolt on the intake manifold that says, do not take out hot. It is near the hose. Take it out, and add coolant until it comes out of the bolt hole. No more problem.

You only have the small electric fan? What happened to the stock clutch fan? If you pulled the clutch fan in favor of just that small fan for the AC, you've already told us the solution. Put the stock clutch fan in.

I had a bad oil pressure sensor that was leaking a tiny bit of oil, it was causing me the same problem. Drive thrus and stop lights, if I turned the heater on high, it drop in a second.

I am having the same problem with a 93 KA24DE. I have replaced the thermostat twice now, I bought the stat at Napa both times(I have heard that an OEM stat would be the fix) But I bleeded the system with the bleeder screw, filled the radiator up. Then started the car with the heat on, ran it till it got hot and it never drained down to my heater core, the antifreeze just bubbled out of the radiator. And recently i have noticed that when i fill my reserve box with antifreeze and drive for a few miles, and when I check again the box is empty...???? The car, running idle will stay at normal temp on the gauge. But once I drive for a few miles it jumps up to hot. What could my problem be?
