Does anyone know how to remove the ka24de oil squirters? I need to have the block completely bare for the boring. The manual just skimmed thru the subject. According to it, if I drill the soft rubber inserts to remove it, then what can I use to replace these rubber pieces when it comes time to re-install the squirters? If anyone has any experience with this, your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Ummm, you just unbolt em' with the appropriately sized 12 pt. socket (I dont remember the size). Also, clean them while you have them out, I used a needle and a lot of gasoline. Mine were so gummed up nothing could flow through them

Nathan - Do you think they are clogged in most KAs or was yours unusuall.

I ask because I coudl pull mine and clean them while the engine is appart if you think its a good idea.

I think its a good idea just because of how easy it is, it took me maybe 15 minutes and helped my peace of mind greatly ;) I dont know if they would be like that on most KA's or not, I didn't think to check my first motor to see how it was, but this one was in very good condition, no noticeable wear, no oil buildup, just some slight varnishing in the valvetrain. Despite that, it still had gummed up sprayers.

Running some engine restore usually does a good job of braking down the sludge in your oil jackets and whatnot. I'd recommend it on engines over 100,000 miles.
