Do I need to remove the engine to take the oilpan off?I was thinking the crossmember would be in the way of taking it off. Maybe can I just unmount engine and use a hoist tohold it up and remove crossmember to take off pan? I have a oil pan already tapped but not sure if it will fit. I got a turbo kit that was on a frontier that was a ka24de and am not sure if the pan will fit in my s14 engine area. This is about the only thing holding me back from putting my kit on. Thanks

this was mentioned somewhere before so im am answering from what i read and not experience, not yet. you should be able to just unbolt the motor mounts then use the hoist to lift the engine a couple of inches. just enought to get the socket wrech between the crossmember and oil plan. from what it looks like under my car the engine would only need to be lifted about an inch then u can slide the pan out. dont know if the transmission will be able to move up enough with the engine but its worth a shot.

no you do not have to remove the motor as structure 240sx said just unbolt the mtor mounts and lift the engine up just to where it almost comes off the motor mount studs. simply unbolt the oul pan and slide it out the fron of the engine. You will ahve to drop the sway bar in front. total time about 15 minutes if you have never done it before.

Assuming KA24E and KA24DE are the same. Here is the procedure.

1. Hold your car safely on jack stand2. Remove the 2 cover metal at the back of oil pan (between transmission and engine block. You need to remove this to get into back 2 bolt on oil pan ). Together is 6 bolt. All 12mm.3. Remove bolt on stabilizer bar. You don't have to remove the bar(leave the bolt on the control arm alone). just unscrew the bolt at the frame.4. loosen the bolt on oil pan bolt according to procedure. Oil pan bolt is 10mm. You might need extra thinner extender to get to the back of 2 bolt. normal 4" exterder is too big.5. Tap the oil pan so it get loose6. Now, remove your engine mount. Only two on each side. 17mm bolt, all accessible under the car.7. Using a jack stand, with a piece of wood. Jack it up about 3 inch. Jack point is at transmission/engine block. That's the only place where you can jack.8. After you are done, you will find that you are still no able the get the oil pan out because of the oil squiter is block the way. with two 10mm on passenger side, and 1 8mm on driver side, remove the oil squiter.9. You should able to get the oil pan out, with the oil squiter WITHOUT any force.

Hope this help. I just get this done 3 days ago :-)

lift the motor off the mounts, take off all the transmission brace BS, and drop the pan. If you get the motor up high enough you don't have to take off the front pickup.

Allright!!

I have an oil change coming up soon, would you guys recommend I just pull the pan when the oil is out of the engine to get a bung welded on so when my turbo arrives I just have to plug it to the bung? I'm assuming you have to remove the oil...

And can someone give me a website that I can get the type of bung used and a plug for it so it can be on now instead of going through this when the turbo goes on?

for all your plumbing needs:http://www.mcmaster.com/

I got pretty much everything for the turbo oil supply and drain from there.
