I had a question about the engine. I heard that there is no timing belt, but rather a timing chain, and that this chain does not wear out much. is this correct?

So does this mean that the chain does not need to be replaced as often as a belt does?

Correct. However the weak point in this system is the guides/tensioner. They tend to wear out and let the chain go where ever it wants to. There should be a sticky titled "how to fix timing chain rattle" at the very top of this forum that should give you a very good idea of all the parts spinning inside our KA's.
