I've got a '92 Coupe with 166,xxx miles. About two days ago, I replaced the radiator and thermostat. It was running fine, no problems at all. Woke up this morning went to school as usual. When I got out I went to early vote and everything was still normal. Came back out of the courthouse and fired it up, and it was missing. Popped the hood and unplug the plug wires one at a time. On all of them except the #3 cyclinder, it would run worse when it was unplugged. I changed the plug wire and the plug itself, still with the same result. When you unplug the #3 plug wire, its getting spark, you can hear and see it. I put my hand on the injectors and you can feel all of them "ticking", haha...I don't know if that means it is still spraying fuel or not, but I assumed it did. Anyways, it burns and uses oil really bad and a friend of mine who has a 240 said that it could possibly be that the ring was completely burned out and I was losing compression. I don't have a gauge to check this theory. Do any of you guys know what might cause this so suddenly? It was maybe a 20 minute period when I went in the courthouse to vote. Like I said it was running completely normal before I went in, and when I came back out, it started. Any ideas?

I'm SO ready for a motor swap, the KA is driving me nuts!

I also thought somebody stole the engine.

But, your friend seems to have a good thought there, I would take the head off and see where you are.

get a compression tester or borrow one from someone. dunno if autozone rents them but its a thought.

i was having the same problem on a 240 i was working on and it seemed to only be on the #1 plug and i changed cap rotor wires plugs and it diddnt fix it. so i narrowed it down to an injector or a coil. swapped out the coil and it went away. thats my experience for what its worth.

Would this also be able to tell me anything about the valves?

How would I go about checking the coil? Just swap it for a new one?

Sorry for being such a , when it's something like this, I'm clueless. I know enough to do general maintenance, that's about it.

For some reason KA's love to drop the 3rd injector. I replaced mine at the begining of the year and 2 months ago it went bad again. Just randomly was running fine, shut it off for about 25 minutes came back out and injector wasnt firing. If you have a multimeter Ohm test it and compare to the rest.

Will do...thanks

Truth is, it really does suck ***. Gotta make it work 'till I can afford to either fix it or swap it.

EDIT: I used a multimeter to check the ohms: cyclinders 1,2, & 4 read anywhere from 11.5-11.8. Cyclinder #3, the one that isn't firing, it reads 1.44. New injector?
