So i can't seem to figure out why my s14 stock KA24de is misfiring from cylinder number 4. Well, sometimes. Yeah its wierd because once it starts up cold, it won't misfire. When its warm, or should be warm, it'll start to miss right around 8-900 to 1000 rpms at idle. We did a spark test/replaced plugs. No check engine lights either (obdII). Could a bad ground or not enough grounding cause an irratic misfire? Check this out:

I did a oil change on my car the other day...drained filled it back up and started it...right away it was running rough and missing. THEN, i went to pull the dipstick out of the block (keep in mind the car was still running) the car stumbled even more. (Dropped in rpms/misfired worse) When i put the dipstick back into the block the idle went up higher and it seemed to idle alot better (yet still a slight misfire/shake) I did this a couple of times and sure as hell everytime i removed the stick it would drop...leaving me to believe that the engine is possibly not having enough/correct grounds??? Seems to only misfire when there's a load...ie when i come to a stop/idle it'll miss hard, but when im driving at higher rpms/no loads it's not as irratic as idling conditions.

Help me plz!!!

Well I had a somewhat similar problem with a intermittent misfire. There are some guides on here about things like how to get your car to top dead center on a compression stroke. Well you should get it there, and then pull your distributor cap and see what cylinder the indicator points too. Read the article about that, on here I think its in the tech pages or its in the tutorials in the Nissan Online Mechanic section.

For my car it turns out my distributor was put in wrong. So if that's the case for yours, pull it out all the way after taking off the cap and CPS, then on the shaft by the gear there will be a little dip mark, and a indent on the shaft housing. Line those two things up and put the distributor back in so that the top holding bolt is in the center of the adjustment area and tighten then try that.
