Okay, I have searched and not found anything on this.

I'm curious to know if anyone has any educated ideas about this.

So here's the problem:

I have a 1992 S13 with a KA24DE that I have been working on.
When the vehicle was purchased, it did not run.
I have replaced the head gasket, timing chaings, tensioners, and starter, as well as put a battery in it.

The head was machined and checked.
The engine spun over fine with the head off just using a little Craftsman 1/2 drive ratchet.
NOW, I put a 1/2 drive breaker bar on the crank bolt and it takes ALOT of force to turn it over, and has sort of a notched feeling when
I'm turning it over.

Has anyone ever encountered this before?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

before or after you put the head on? it will get harder to turn after you put the head on cause of compression. have you started the motor yet? if you think it's to hard to turn then recheck your timing marks and be sure it's right.

I have checked and rechecked the timing. It was real easy to turn before I put the head on it, but it became REALLY difficult after I bolted everything up. It doesn't seem to be turning fast enough to start even with the plugs out of it. I put a TDC gauge in the spark plug hole and the valves are fully closed when the piston is coming to the top. I have checked to make sure there was no interference with the cam bearing caps being too tight.

it will be easy until the cam lobes start to open the valves then it does get a lot harder. as long as you're able to still spin the motor by hand i think you're good. im NO mechanic though thats just my understanding. i thought my motor was locked up too when i put my head on. then i realized i was just freaking out. have you tried to bump it over with the key?
