my 97 240 wont hold its idle. at lights it will bounce around 400-900 rpm and then just die. starts up just fine after and will drive ok if im on the throttle. also noticed while driving that it starts to cut out and drops about 100-300 rpm then just goes away for a min. :gotme

today im going to take the iacv out and try to clean it. does any one else have any helpful tips on what could be goin on any help would be great

are you running a stock intake system? Make sure the air box is seated firmly around the air filter, and by all means check your oil pressure/level. Two quarts low will make it idle rough, and shut down.

MAF Sensor.

when the ECU starts the car, it uses a map for fuel/air, once the car is running it begins to rely on the sensors, clean out your MAF.

also when the car is idling bad, unplug the MAF and see what happens.
