well it all started after taking the car on the voyage from nc to tampa. it ran smooth the whole way no issues what so ever. until i got here let the car sit for a little while and went to move it. It was misfireing and unsurprisingly had barely ebough power to move. so i let it sit until the next day and start it and it runs fine again. drive it through town no issues. took a small voyage today at highway speeds again runs fine. park it, and come back out after about 30 minutes same problem..misfireing and no power. eventually it stops and runs fine the rest of the way home. so my question, any ideas? i was thinkin i should just change plugs, maybe wires. check timing, etc. but i was wanting to know if anyone else experienced this and what was the cause? im a little scared to drive it around cause i have a feeling it may leave me stranded actin that way so i would really appreciate some help. thanks in advance.

I had a similar problem; it was ignition related. I had a bad ignition coil (the resistance was increasing when it heated up thus reducing it's ability to provide good power for spark) I also had a poor connection between the ignition coil and distributor cap. Check your grounds too.

Pull your cap first and check the connection between the points in the cap and the rotor. if that's good then I would start looking at your ignition coil and the wiring to it.

Warm the car up and see if you can reproduce the problem, pop the hood and mess w/ the ignition coil to distributor plug wire and see if it affects the engine.

It's usually best to diagnose while you are able to reproduce the problem so you can pinpoint what is causing it.

THat really does sound like a loose connection or bad ground to me though.
