Well i have searched, and this is not a KA vs. SR thread, this is a what will swap ( parts wise ) from a KA motor onto a SR , and vice versa, i was just wondering if the SR cams, timing chains (etc), exhaust minfold, intake manifold, bolt kits would work on the KA, any and all help would be appreciated,

ive never heard of anything being interchangable between these two engines, like zerepdivad said, totally different power plants. infact CA and SR parts are probably more compatible with each other than KA and SR, and even CA/SR comparison is still off, the parts dont reallly match up so....i doubt anything will transfer.......

huh i was afraid of that, i just figured that with so many companies pushing the SR and treating the KA like a red headed stepchild, parts may be interchangable, due to the lack of an array of turbo'ing options for the KA, guess if it comes down to it i guess i could always weld up my own exhaust manifold, or i could do the procharger (belt driven) route,

Could SR connecting rods be put onto a KA crank?

And before anyone thinks about flaming, this is not something I intend to do as its a dumb idea. I'm currently researching what may or may not have been put into the "rebuild" that the mechanic says was done: he had told me he was getting Eagle rods for my KA, but I have since found out that they do not make rods for the KA. They do however make SR rods and so I'm curious- theoretically, if SR rods could be bolted to high compression pistons which were supposedly custom made by Ross (again another IF), could that account for low compression readings. Most likely though, nothing was done to my engine internally- which may mean an oh-so-fun lawsuit.

I don't know but lately I have noticed a lot more support for the KA, especialy the DE.

For instance Look at AMS, they got rebuild kits for both the E and DE and they are both really well priced.

I think the KA is just one of those motors that only true enthusiasts know it's capabilities. Which is a good thing for the days when u blow someone away and they say, whoa dude I didnt know the SR is so quick, and all you have to say is it's a KA hehe. I love the look on peoples faces when they find out that it's a KA your runing instead of a SR.
