so ive got a fully built ka, brand new, never run, with wiseco piston, pauter rods, complete head work to the max, and i'm currently installing it into my 92 vert. it will be a future ka-tall new oem gaskets were used (except the headgasket).i have installed the intake manifold onto the motor and connected all hoses, and vacuum lines. all accessories are bolted down.going to add new straight coolant in the motor via the main top radiator hose into the thermostat and so forth. i notice a good amount of leaking and dripping almost immeadiatly. i see its coming down from the ist cylinder area where the intake manifold (top part) meets the block, (front side, intake mani side). i notice theres 1 bolt that wasnt bolted in during the intake manifold assembly install onto the motor. so i put a bolt down, and refill. its still leaking again, almost rushing. i put my finger down there and blew through the hose (lol) and could feel plenty of air blowing through.

im not sure if the intake manifold gasket was off there or what; its brand new. i didnt use any type of gasket maker.should i just pull it off again, check for marks on the block/manifold/gasket and redo with gasket maker. this motor will have a turbo inn about 2 months.

I'd say pull the intake mani first and inspect the gasket and mating surfaces to see what was going on. Either you'll know what you need to do or report what you find and we can go from there.

Yes. You will need to pull the manifold off and figure out what exactly is going on.

You may have a bad gasket at that point? I've seen whole rings (like around a coolant jacket) that are torn off. Get a new gasket if you've already tighted this one down all the way (Are stock KA intake mani. gaskets expensive?) You can use some RTV as well when you re-install.

Pull it off and take some pics and post them if you want a second opinion..

Hey... at least it's an intake mani gasket and not the head gasket!
